3. Champion Paycheck: This years champion will receive $1.84 million, and for the first time ever, it will be awarded in U.S. dollars. The runner-up will take home just over $1 million.
4. Entry for (nearly) life: The Champion will be exempt at the Open until they turn 60.
5. Tour Exemptions: The British Open winner will earn exemptions to the Masters, the U.S. Open and the PGA Championship for five years. And, a five-year exemption on the PGA Tour.
6. Points: The winner will add 600 FedEx Cup points to his tally, 100 Official World Golf Ranking points, and Ryder Cup or Presidents Cup points.
7. Claret Jug: The Golf Champion Trophy, is presented to each year's winner of The Open. Yet it is not the original prize. When the Championship began at Prestwick in 1860, the winner was presented with the Challenge Belt, made of rich Moroccan leather, embellished with a silver buckle and emblems. The winner gets to hold possession of the trophy for a full year, at which point he must surrender it to the championship and receive a replica for his own uses in return.
