Titleist issued Spieth a set of yet-to-be-released Titleist 716 AP2 irons made to his spec and fitted with Project X 6.0 shafts, and company reps believed Jordan would wait until after the FedEx Cup Playoffs and the Presidents Cup to put them into play. Spieth had used Titleist 714 AP2 irons since they were introduced to the PGA Tour in June 2013.
